چکیده
Wediscuss a discretization-based solution approach for a classic problem in global 1 optimization, namely the distance geometry problem (DGP).We focus our attention on a par1 2 ticular class of the DGP which is concerned with the identification of the conformation of 3 biological molecules. Among the many relevant ideas for the discretization of the DGP in 4 the literature, we identify the most promising ones and address their inherent limitations 5 to application to this class of problems. The result is an improved method for estimating 2 6 3D structures of small proteins based only on the knowledge of some distance restraints 7 between pairs of atoms. We present computational results showcasing the usefulness of the 8 new proposed approach. Proteins act on living cells according to their geometric and chem9 ical properties: finding protein conformations can be very useful within the pharmaceutical 10 industry in order to synthesize new drugs. 11

ON THE FUZZY SET THEORY AND AGGREGATION FUNCTIONS: HISTORY AND SOME RECENT ADVANCES
Several fuzzy connectives, including those proposed by Lotfi Zadeh, can be seen as linear extensions of the Boolean connectives from the scale ${0,1}$ into the scale $[0,1]$. We discuss these extensions, in particular, we focus on the dualities arising from the Boolean dualities. These dualities allow to transfer the results from some particular class of extended Boolean functions, e.g., from c...
متن کاملA note on "An interval type-2 fuzzy extension of the TOPSIS method using alpha cuts"
The technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is a method based on the ideal solutions in which the most desirable alternative should have the shortest distance from positive ideal solution and the longest distance from negative ideal solution. Depending on type of evaluations or method of ranking, different approaches have been proposing to calculate distances ...
متن کاملInterval MULTIMOORA method with target values of attributes based on interval distance and preference degree: biomaterials selection
A target-based MADM method covers beneficial and non-beneficial attributes besides target values for some attributes. Such techniques are considered as the comprehensive forms of MADM approaches. Target-based MADM methods can also be used in traditional decision-making problems in which beneficial and non-beneficial attributes only exist. In many practical selection problems, some attributes ha...
متن کاملRecent advances on the Discretizable Molecular Distance Geometry Problem
The Molecular Distance Geometry Problem (MDGP) consists in finding an embedding in R of a nonnegatively weighted simple undirected graph with the property that the Euclidean distances between embedded adjacent vertices must be the same as the corresponding edge weights. The Discretizable Molecular Distance Geometry Problem (DMDGP) is a particular subset of the MDGP which can be solved using a d...
متن کاملThe Capacitated Location-Allocation Problem with Interval Parameters
In this paper, we develop a capacitated location-covering model considering interval values for demand and service parameters. We also consider flexibility on distance standard for covering demand nodes by the servers. We use the satisfaction degree to represent the constraint of service capacity. The proposed model belongs to the class of mixed integer programming models. Our model can be redu...
